Pyro, the latest CD–burning software from Cakewalk, is an easy–to–understand product that is simple to install and set up. Pyro offers all of the necessary features needed to make an excellent copy of the original CD.
Feature Set:
Although Pyro offers all of the necessary features required to produce an excellent CD copy, it lacks many convenient features found in competing products. Pyro is limited to copying CDs; it does not offer any options that allow you to copy DVDs or images. Also, you cannot erase a CD–RW with this software and it does not have the ability to copy a disc in RAW mode. Due to these limitations, Pyro does not allow you to create an exact copy of your original CD.
Ease of Use:
Pyro is a straightforward product; five simple tabs represent the basic CD burning options. Once you select an option you only need to drag and drop the individual tracks to your copy destination. Then press the burn button and the copy begins.
Ease of Installation:
Pyro installation was uncomplicated and easy to understand and setup. The process was error–free.
Quality of Copy:
The quality of the CD copy was outstanding. We found no major distinction between the original CD and the copy. There was no skipping of tracks and the audio quality is excellent.
Help/Documentation:
The help documentation was both useful and easy to understand. The help guides you through the copy process step by step. With the addition of screenshots to help a user see and anticipate each task visually, this product would receive a four–box score.
Summary:
Overall, Pyro is a good choice for the consumer who wishes to burn an excellent copy of a CD. With the addition of a few convenient features, Pyro would be a more competitive CD burning program.
