Roxio Creator is fantastic as a CD burner and mediocre as a DVD burner. It has tons of interesting features, like a media manager, video editing tools and a label maker. It lacks other features that really would have made it great – specifically decryption and region code removal for DVDs. The biggest drawback we found with this CD burning software was the laborious installation process. Fortunately, you will only have to do it once. From then on, it should be smooth sailing.

Roxio Creator's unique feature set is great for burning CDs. It has excellent file conversion options, which gives you the ability to play your CD music on multiple devices. It also has an awesome media manager if you are still vagabonding somewhere between the Windows Media Player and iTunes. Custom mixes are very easy to burn. It also comes with a label maker that allows you to design your own CD art.

If you have a collection of home videos stored on DVDs, Roxio is a great tool. It has basic video editing features that can give your videos a more professional sheen. It is also perfect for creating backup discs. Unfortunately, it lacks decryption and region code removal, so you won't be able to copy commercial DVDs or create U.S.-friendly copies of foreign films.

The drag-and-drop interface makes it very easy to manage your music and videos as you compile burn lists. It's also very well documented, and clear instructions are available to guide you through the CD and DVD burning process. The menu is easy to locate and all the features are clearly labeled, so you don't ever have to worry about getting lost. It also features a built-in user guide to help you get to know the ropes. The learning curve is nice and smooth, just like we expect to see from Roxio.

The download and installation process can be a bit laborious. We recommend installation via CD – the file download is too large to be convenient without high-speed internet. In fact, it is larger than any of the other applications we reviewed.
